Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting that happens inside a Deep vein in
the body, for the most part in the leg.
Blood clumps that create in a vein are otherwise called venous thrombosis.
DVT for the most part happens in a Deep leg vein, a bigger vein that goes through
the muscles of the calf and the thigh.
It can cause agony and swelling in the leg and may serious problems, for example,
aspiratory embolism. This is a critical condition that happens when a bit of blood
clump severs into the circulatory system and squares one of the veins in the lungs
(see underneath).
DVT and aspiratory embolism together are known as venous thromboembolism
(VTE).
DVT can affect one leg or sometimes both legs.
